Bruce Springsteen Greetings From Asbury Park New Jersey
Springsteen released his first album in January 1973 on the Columbia record label. The album, Greetings From Asbury Park New Jersey, was a financial flop, selling only 25,000 copies in its first year on the market. Heralded as the "new Dylan," Springsteen viewed the album as a chance to "release" a lot
of ideas that he couldn't get across playing in the clubs and bars in Jersey. Years later, Springsteen would comment, "Geez, what the hell was I thinking about when I wrote all that stuff?" Several of the album cuts turned into long-time fan favorites.
